Co-creation of knowledge in agroecology

The co-creation of knowledge is gaining recognition and use within the science, practice, movement agroecology. Knowledge fosters participatory learning development, which differs from passive sharing. This approach can bridge real perceived gaps across diverse forms knowledge, including what often distinguished as farmers’ traditional, Indigenous, tacit, or local experts’ scientific, western, generalizable knowledge. Formal academic documentation processes outcomes related to limited; therefore, we bring in examples published research, drawing fields agroecology, action science technology studies, along with a firsthand farmer perspective on co-creation. Combined, these frameworks offer insight into potential benefits Many challenges, such navigating power dynamics, may be addressed through mindful research community practices, strong communication transparent expectations goals. Co-creation have traditionally continually taken place between farmers throughout communities without acknowledgment and/or interpretation such. We reinstate invaluable role farmer-centered inquiry, understanding, application, individual their extended practice addition holding spiritual cultural significance. agroecology presents compelling, adaptive outcome for increasingly complex challenges facing agrifood system.
